UFC 300 Rumors
We're less than three months away from UFC 300 rumors, and while there is no slam-dunk headliner for the event, there are several intriguing matchups on the table. Whether it's Israel Adesanya facing Dricus Du Plessis or Bo Nickal facing Cody Brundage, there are plenty of solid options that could help make this April 13 card the best one in recent memory.
Adesanya-Du Plessis
Newly crowned middleweight champion Israel Adesanya seems to be the frontrunner to take on his rival Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 300. Adesanya and Du Plessis share a fierce rivalry that many think is on the verge of becoming an all-time great UFC fight. The fight will likely come down to how quickly Du Plessis can heal from his injury and whether the UFC makes it worth Adesanya's while to return so soon after his title win.
Du Plessis injured his knee in his last fight, a split decision victory over Sean Strickland. He subsequently revealed he'd suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee and will require surgery. This injury may put the fight on hold until later this year, though if Du Plessis is healthy enough to compete by UFC 300, it will be a must-see matchup.
Brundage-Nickal
This is a strong undercard bout that would see two of the top young stars in the division fight each other. Both Brundage and Nickal are coming off strong wins over high-profile opponents, and a matchup between the two would provide some nice hype leading up to the event.
Garbrandt-Figueiredo
Former bantamweight champion Brandon Garbrandt will face MMA phenom Cody Figueiredo at UFC 300. That fight will be a solid addition to the already stacked card, but it wouldn't be a surprise if the promotion decided to add another solid bout in this division.
Leon Edwards-Bilal Muhammad
The welterweight division is already loaded with strong contenders, but this could be the fight that gives it a boost. Edwards is a top-ranked welterweight and his win over Michael Chandler at UFC 298 made him the fastest winner in history of that particular title. He's a fan-favorite, and he'd be a huge draw if he can bury the rivalry with Bilal Muhammad in the main event of UFC 300.
Arman Tsarukyan-Zhang Weili
Strawweight champion Zhang Weili isn't expected to make another title defense before her next fight, a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko. In the meantime, she could face Tsarukyan in a bout that'd be a good fit for both of them.
Tsarukyan recently beat former lightweight champ Charles Oliveira and is a top contender for a return to lightweight. He'd love to rematch Islam Makhachev, but that's already been promised to Dustin Poirier, so he might have to wait. A matchup with Weili is a strong possibility instead.
